| Alchemy Eye is a program that helps the network administrator to monitor servers in TCP/IP network. Alchemy Eye maintains a list of servers that will be checked repetedly. When server goes down, the program notifies the network administrator and writes a log file with server monitoring report. Alchemy Eye can monitor servers in common, `pinging` specified logical or numeric IP address. The program also can check specific services such as HTTP or SMTP by opening/closing a socket at the specified address and port, and Oracle servers by logging in/out to/from the database. Event notifications could be sent by e-mail, to WinPopup application (Windows 9x), Messenger service (Windows NT) or to ICQ pager, ordinary pager or mobile phone (SMS) via e-mail gateway. |
